Doctors Who Killed: Case Summaries Of Doctors Who Were Serial Killers
In the annals of true crime, there are few stories more chilling than those of doctors who have turned to murder. These are individuals who have taken an oath to preserve life, yet have chosen to end it instead. Their motives vary from the mundane to the macabre, but the results are always the same: senseless death and shattered lives.

This book presents a collection of case summaries of some of the most notorious doctors who have killed. These include Harold Shipman, who killed over 250 patients; Michael Swango, who poisoned his colleagues; and John Bodkin Adams, who was convicted of murdering four patients but is suspected of killing many more.
These stories are a chilling reminder of the dark side of human nature. They show that even those who are entrusted with our care can be capable of great evil. But they also serve as a warning, reminding us that we must always be vigilant in protecting ourselves from those who would do us harm.
Harold Shipman
Harold Shipman was a British general practitioner who killed over 250 patients between 1975 and 1998. He was convicted of 15 murders in 2000 and sentenced to life in prison. Shipman's victims were mostly elderly women, and he often killed them by injecting them with diamorphine (heroin).
Shipman's crimes were discovered after a local undertaker noticed that he was certifying an unusually high number of deaths. An investigation was launched, and Shipman was eventually arrested and charged with murder. He pleaded not guilty, but was convicted on all 15 counts.
Shipman's case is one of the most notorious in British history. It raised questions about the role of doctors in society and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable patients from abuse.
Michael Swango
Michael Swango was an American physician who poisoned his colleagues and patients on multiple occasions. He was convicted of four murders and sentenced to life in prison in 2000.
Swango's crimes began in the early 1980s, when he was a resident at Ohio State University Medical Center. He was suspected of poisoning at least three patients, but was never charged. In 1984, he moved to New York City, where he poisoned several more patients at Bellevue Hospital.
In 1985, Swango moved to Zimbabwe, where he worked as a doctor at Harare Central Hospital. He was suspected of poisoning at least 20 patients, but was again never charged. In 1993, he moved to Saudi Arabia, where he was convicted of murdering two patients.
In 1997, Swango was extradited to the United States, where he was convicted of four murders. He is currently serving a life sentence in prison.
John Bodkin Adams
John Bodkin Adams was a British general practitioner who was convicted of murdering four patients in 1957. He was sentenced to life in prison, but was released in 1966 on appeal.
Adams was suspected of killing many more patients than the four for which he was convicted. He was known for prescribing large doses of drugs to his patients, and many of them died in suspicious circumstances.
Adams' case was one of the most controversial in British history. It raised questions about the role of doctors in society and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable patients from abuse.
These are just three of the many doctors who have killed. Their stories are a chilling reminder of the dark side of human nature. They show that even those who are entrusted with our care can be capable of great evil. But they also serve as a warning, reminding us that we must always be vigilant in protecting ourselves from those who would do us harm.
